Hyannis Stabbing: Suspect Charged With Attempted Murder

Barnstable police said Anthony Barrows, of Yarmouth, stabbed a man outside party in Hyannis.

BARNSTABLE, MA — A Cape Cod man was recently arrested on charges he stabbed a man in Hyannis, police announced Tuesday. Anthony Barrows, 30, of Yarmouth, was charged with a host of crimes. He was ordered held in custody for 120 days due to an "extensive" criminal history, police said.

The stabbing happened October 8 on Phillips Street, police said. Barrows and others allegedly attacked the victim outside a party and stabbed the victim multiple times.

"The victim was transported to Cape Cod Hospital where he was treated for a severe facial fracture around his right eye, a stab wound on his right shoulder as well as a stab wound to his head and neck," Barnstable police said in a statement. "The victim’s injuries were so critical that he was transported to a Boston trauma center for treatment and observation."

Barrows was arrested Thursday, October 26, and charged with assault and assault with intent to murder. A search of his vehicle turned up nearly 5 pounds of marijuana and he was additionally charged with marijuana possession with intent to distribute (subsequent offense), police said.
