In Harwich, Main Street will be closed from Sisson Road to South Street from noon until approximately 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Visiting hours are scheduled from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Chapman Funerals & Cremations - Blute Chapel in Harwich Center.

"A large turnout is expected for the visiting hours, and there will be increased traffic in this area through 8:00 [p.m.]," the Harwich Fire Department said.

A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday.

Culver graduated from the State Police Academy in 2006, serving with the MSP for 18 years. Prior to that, Culver worked on Cape Cod.

Yarmouth police officials said Culver was a reserve officer from 2003 until he joined the state police in 2006.

"We express our deepest sympathy to the many friends, colleagues, and family members of Trooper Culver and offer our thoughts, prayers and support," Yarmouth officials said.

The Harwich Police Department said they participated in the escort to "bring Steven back home to Harwich."

"We were grateful to be able to join the MSP and see every highway overpass from Boston to the Cape full of police and fire departments saluting Steve," officials said.

The Brewster Police Department also offered condolences, sharing that Police Chief Heath Eldredge was Culver's cousin.
