Liimatainen Notches Another Win for Red Raiders
The 8-2 Barnstable High School baseball nine picked up a key win this afternoon at Hyannis, thanks chiefly in part to another stellar pitching performance from senior righty Pete Liimatainen (3-0).

Thank goodness for the Red Raider pitching staff.
Backed largely by a complete-game, low-pitch-count effort from senior righty Pete Liimatainen, the Barnstable High School baseball team (8-2) eked out a victory over the visiting Sandwich High Blue Knights and used just two hits to do it.
Only Dylan Morris and D.J. Crook notched base hits for the Red and White, while Mark Brodd had an RBI-sacrifice fly and Eric Rogorzenski, pinch-running for pinch-hitter Tim Biliouris, scored the game-winner on a passed ball that scooted past the Sandwich catcher and around the backstop far enough for Rogorzenski to score from second base for a 2-1 walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh.

Biliouris, pinch-hitting for designated hitter Sam Holway, walked and Rogorzenski advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Denny Beynor. Leadoff man Luke Besse walked with Rogorzenski on second and on the ball-four pitch, "Rogo" came scampering home on a passed ball in what had been a 1-1 deadlock.
Liimatainen threw seven innings, threw 77 pitches, struck out six batters and scattered four hits while walking none. Barnstable is slated to face Dartmouth tomorrow at home and then Nauset on the road on Thursday.
