MA Man Arraigned In Hyannis Main Street Shooting

HYANNIS, MA — A Rockland, Mass., man was arraigned for his role in a weekend shooting on Main Street in Hyannis, the Cape and Islands District Attorney announced on Thursday.

Chrystian Anderson, 20, was arraigned today in Barnstable District Court on charges of assault and battery with a firearm, armed assault with the intent to murder by firearm and other related firearms charges.

Anderson is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for July 7 at 9 a.m. in Barnstable District Court.

A 16-year-old from Hyannis was arrested early Tuesday morning and faces charges related to two recent shootings in the Barnstable-Hyannis area.

Police arrested the teenager in Yarmouth at 1:20 a.m. on Tuesday. He was arraigned in Barnstable Juvenile Court on charges that include two counts of assault to murder with a firearm, assault and battery with a firearm, and accessory before and after the fact.

The Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office announced that he will be detained pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for July 12.

This comes after three others were charged in relation to the Hyannis shooting on Monday.

Hyannis Main Street Shooting

Officers responded to the Main Street and High School Road area in Hyannis for reported gunshots around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

When they arrived, police found a man that was shot in both legs. They began treatment on him at the scene.

The victim was taken first to Cape Cod Hospital, but was later flown to a Boston area hospital for treatment on the non-life-threatening injuries.

Additional units also responded, finding a damaged car a short distance away on High School Road. The car likely fled the scene of the shooting and crashed into an uninvolved vehicle, police said.

The passengers in that car were unharmed in the accident.

Police determined that the shooting wasn't a random act of violence and are continuing an investigation.

The Barnstable Police Department is still working with numerous Cape Cod Police Departments, the Massachusetts State Police and the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s office to locate and arrest the other individuals involved in both incidents, officials said.
