Nantucket Man Among 9 From MA Facing Federal Drug Charges
The charges come from an investigation into the 18th Street Gang, who've been billed as a "transnational criminal organization."
BOSTON, MA — A Nantucket man is among nine people to face charges ranging from drug trafficking to child abuse as part of an investigation into the 18th Street Gang around the North Shore of Boston.
Four people, including John Angel, 31, of Nantucket, face federal fentanyl and cocaine distribution and possession charges.
Five others were arrested for various state crimes including drug trafficking, child abuse crimes — including rape of a child, posing a child in a state of nudity and possession of child pornography — and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Two people are alleged to have sold 500 pressed fentanyl pills, and later cocaine, to a cooperating witness in Everett in October, officials said.
It's also alleged that approximately 100 grams of suspected cocaine and approximately $25,000 cash were recovered from Angel’s residence on Nantucket during a search at the time of his arrest.

The federal charge of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl provides for a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, at least three years and up to life, of supervised release and a fine of up to $1 million.
The charge of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl provides for a sentence of at least five and up to 40 years in prison, at least four years and up to life of supervised release and a fine of up to $5,000,000.
