New Year's Eve Fireworks Returning To Provincetown

PROVINCETOWN, MA — Provincetown will host its annual "First Light New Year’s Eve" fireworks display at 5:30 p.m., Dec. 31, town officials said.

The fireworks celebration over the harbor launches from MacMillan Pier, and the best views for the fireworks are on the beach by the pier.

Beginning 2 a.m., Dec. 29 through 2 a.m., Jan 2., a parking ban will be in place on Commercial Street between Johnson Street and Court Street. Free parking is available for residents and visitors in any of the town’s municipal lots, such as the MacMillan Pier Parking Lot (located in the center of town by Lopes Square) and Grace Hall Parking lot (located at Prince Street and Bradford Street).

The Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority (CCRTA) is also offering its fixed route bus services for free every Friday and Saturday in December, and visitors from Cape Cod are encouraged to use the service, which stops at MacMillan Pier in Provincetown.

Other events taking place in Provincetown during First Light Weekend include the Light Bright Bike Ride at 4:30 p.m., Dec. 31, and the Polar Bear Plunge into the harbor at noon on Jan. 1.

The fireworks are dependent on weather conditions and may be rescheduled Jan. 1 in the event of extreme weather.
