Orcas Spotted Off Cape Cod
A pod of orcas was captured off Cape Cod by boaters: "We got a a killer whale baby!"
Chatham, MA — A pod of orca whales made a rare appearance off the coast of Cape Cod Monday. The four orcas were spotted by fishermen near Chatham on Tuesday. Three appeared to be full-grown and there was a smaller one that looked adolescent or younger.
An average orca is 32 feet long and 6 tons — the size of a school bus. Orcas are members of the dolphin family, though they are commonly called "killer whales."
The Chatham boaters were clearly excited, with exclamations like:
