OUI Charge For Hyannis Man Who Drove On Lawn, Fled Crash: PD
Police said the man went onto the lawn of the 99 Restaurant and hit another car as he drove down Route 28.

HYANNIS, MA — A Hyannis man was arrested Tuesday after driving on the lawn of a Yarmouth restaurant and fleeing the scene, according to police. Andre DaSilva, 39, faces his second drunken driving charge, police said.
Officers went to Route 28 at Thomas Road around 10 p.m. for a report of a vehicle driving over the curb and onto the lawn of the 99 Restaurant. The vehicle, a gray GMC pickup truck, was seen driving "all over the road" on Route 28 East, police said. The truck also hit another car and kept driving, according to police.
Officers attempted to stop the truck, which turned onto West Yarmouth Road and nearly struck another vehicle at the intersection, police said. The driver ignored officers' signals to pull over, according to police. It ultimately stopped in a driveway on Amos Road.

Officers approached the driver, DaSilva, whose eyes were bloodshot and glassy, according to police. He appeared disoriented, mumbled and had slurred speech, police said. There was an apparent "language barrier," but DaSilva admitted to having five drinks, police said.
He underwent field tests and was determined to be "severely impaired," according to police. DaSilva was arrested and charged with OUI liquor (second offense), operating a motor vehicle negligently so as to endanger, leaving the scene after causing personal injury and failure to stop for police.
