Patriots Legend Bill Belichick Sued Over Nantucket 'Negligence'
A painter was injured while working two years ago on one of the coach's homes, and has filed a lawsuit for damages of more than $285,000.
NANTUCKET, MA — Former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is being sued for more than $285,000 by a house painter who claims he was seriously injured because of dangerous job conditions at one of the coach’s homes.
Andrew Jackson slipped and fell in June 2024 while doing work at 45 Fair St., Nantucket, according to a complaint filed Thursday in Nantucket County Superior Court. The unsafe conditions included the placement of plastic coverings around the work area, Jackson said.
He suffered a “severe” injury to his right ankle and later received workers’ compensation benefits. Jackson is now suing to get compensation for medical bills and lost wages – as well as other costs that might push an award in court higher.

The defendant is Forty Five Fair Street, a limited liability company set up by Belichick in April 2024 to own and manage real estate. The LLC was negligent in allowing the unsafe conditions and Jackson’s injury was a direct result, he claims.
Attempts to reach Belichick for comment were unsuccessful.

His company bought the 2,900-square-foot house in May 2024 for $4.8 million, according to Nantucket records. The property is a few miles from the island village of Siasconset, where Belichick has also owned multiple homes in what the Boston Globe described in 2018 as a “compound.”
He bought one of those homes for $2.5 million in 2014, again through an LLC, and sold the North Gully Road property last November for $3.8 million.
The coach also owns a multimillion-dollar home in Hingham and a condo in Florida, according to news reports.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest football coaches in history, he led the New England Patriots to six Super Bowl victories in 24 years. He now coaches the University of North Carolina gridiron squad, earning $10 million a year. He turns 74 next week.
