Pediatrics On Cape Cod Get Boost From Boston Children's Hospital

HYANNIS, MA — Cape Cod Hospital got a boost to its pediatric care this month.

The Hyannis hospital and Boston Children's Hospital started a collaboration to enhance patient access to pediatric care for Cape Cod familes, Cape Cod Healthcare officials announced Wednesday.

The hospitals started the collaboration July 1. For Cape Cod Hospital, it means doctors from Boston Children's Hospital now provide 24/7 pediatric medical services and clinical consultations in Hyannis. Services were added at the inpatient unit, newborn nursery, labor and delivery unit and with consultations to the emergency department.

"Our collaboration with Boston’s Children’s Hospital helps us to achieve this important goal. Boston Children’s will also provide new pediatric services, including interactive video technology to support pre-transport decisions and care for critically ill newborns requiring transfer, training in high-risk clinical scenarios,and consultative support for Cape Cod Hospital’s newborn hearing screening program.
