Righty reliever Keegan Dellacona picked up his second win of the 2011 campaign tonight when he came on in extra innings to shut down the Taunton bats.
Ahead 5-1 after five complete frames, Red Raider junior righthander Pete Liimatainen completed a solid outing on the hill before giving way in the sixth to the first of three Barnstable relievers, Cam Lariviere. Lariviere struggled to find the strike zone and when the dust finally settled the visiting Tigers had tied things up at 5-5. Lefty senior captain Derek Kornhiser then came on before giving way to Dellacona.
Dellacona looked strong in spots with marked command of a variety of pitches and at times a pinpoint fastball , working himself out of one spot before settling down to put a dagger in Taunton's attempt to snatch victory from the jaws of what initially appeared to be sure defeat in the early going.

Sophomore third baseman Will Toffey led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a two-strike opposite field single, then stole second and was moved to third on a picture perfect bunt hit by Dylan Morris. With one out and the outfield drawn in to try and prevent the run from scoring, D.J. Crook then hit a towering pop fly to center over the head of the centerfielder to drive in Toffey for the 6-5 win.
Barnstable heads to Falmouth in a non-league affair tomorrow afternoon at Elmer "Guv" Fuller Field. The Red Raiders now stand at 6-4 on the season.
