Red Raiders Welcome Whalers Friday Night at BHS
Top-ranked Barnstable High School football (4-0) welcomes the feisty New Bedford Whalers to W. Leo Shields Memorial Field Friday night at 6:00 pm.

Most if not all of the players on the Barnstable High School varsity football roster this fall weren't even born the last time the Red Raiders won their first four games of the season.
It's been 17 years.
Not since the vaunted 1995 season -- replete with a #1 ranking in Eastern Massachusetts and an 11-0 Super Bowl Championship -- have the Red Raiders fared so well on the gridiron.

On the heels of a major upset over Everett High last week, the Red & White will seek to avenge last year's 31-17 loss to New Bedford, even though last year's loss proved to be a major turning point in the 2011 campaign.
That's because then wide reciever now quarterabck Nick Peabody got his chance to shine once former quarterback D.J. Crook was sidelined with a broken thumb during the New Bedford game last october 7.

And Peabody has shined ever since.
Helping lead BHS to an Old Colony League title when he took the quarterback reigns in 2011, Peabody currently leads the state with touchdown passes thrown (15) and has already amassed 1,082 yards passing while throwing just two interceptions. With just four games under his belt in 2012, Peabody has already helped BHS to a #1 ranking in the state and has placed his name on the very short list of all-time Red Raider quarterbacks to throw for 1,000 yards or more.
And he has eight games to go.
Matching Peabody in terms of offensive success is senior wide receiver Dylan Morris whose scored in three of the four games with 7 touchdowns to his credit already.
Game time is 6:00 pm.
