Sandwich Woman ID'd In Cape Cod Car Fire Death

SANDWICH, MA — The Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office have identified the woman who died in the Cape Cod car fire In Sandwich.

Susan Lauber, 86, of Sandwich, is the woman who died in the fire.

Officials said she drove her vehicle into the area of Peter's Pond in Sandwich during the "predawn" hours of Monday.

She arrived at the last cottage in the area, but at that time the vehicle left the paved road, driving around the cottage and into the woods.

Officials said the pitch of the wooded terrain tipped the car onto the passenger side before the vehicle became engulfed in flames.
