Somerville Men Face Fentanyl, Cocaine Trafficking Charges On Cape Cod

Police believe a Somerville duo made trips to Cape Cod "for the sole purpose of selling illicit narcotics." They now face multiple charges.

BARNSTABLE, MA — A months-long investigation into drug trafficking on Cape Cod led to charges against two men from Somerville who police said traveled to Cape Cod just to move drugs.

Johnathan Gomes, 23, and Nathaniel Wallace-Gomes, 25, both of Somerville, face a litany of narcotics charges including conspiracy and trafficking of cocaine and fentanyl. Police said their Cape Cod trips were "for the sole purpose of selling illicit narcotics."

On Wednesday, both Gomes and Wallace-Gomes were taken into custody after 105 grams of fentanyl and 122 grams of cocaine were seized from them over the course of the investigation.

Gomes and Wallace-Gomes were arraigned at Falmouth District Court on Thursday and were ordered held without bail for 90 days. Officials said Gomes is scheduled for a dangerousness hearing on July 18 while Wallace-Gomes will be held on $25,000 cash bail after the 90 days is up.

The charges come after months of a partnership between Barnstable police, the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit, Massachusetts State Police Cape & Islands Detective Unit, and the Drug Enforcement Administration Cape Cod Task Force, who teamed up to target trafficking and violent crimes on Cape Cod, officials said.
