Target Opening First Cape Cod Store
The retail chain is bringing an 80,000-square-foot store to the Cape in 2019.

HYANNIS, MA – Target will expand to the Cape Cod area next year, the retail chain announced Tuesday. The company has signed a lease with Simon Property Group to open an 80,000-square-foot store at the Cape Cod Mall in 2019. It will be the chain's 47th Massachusetts store, joining the Medford, Burlington and Cambridge Porter Square locations opening later this year.
The "small-format" store will carry many of the same products offered in a full-size store, with a curated selection designed to fit the needs and preferences of the community.
"Target continues to receive a warm reception from our guests throughout Massachusetts, and we look forward to providing a one-of-a-kind shopping experience on the Cape," Mark Schindele, senior vice president, Properties, Target, said in a statement. "With a range of products across kids, home, beach and seasonal items, and everyday essentials, this store’s assortment and overall experience are designed especially for Cape Cod residents and seasonal visitors."
