'Violent Felon' Wanted On Cape Cod Turns Herself In: Police

The 26-year-old, who pleaded guilty to a fatal hit-and-run as a teen, allegedly gave police fake information when she was stopped last week.

YARMOUTH, MA – A "convicted violent felon" with 20 prior criminal charges wanted on Cape Cod has turned herself in, Yarmouth police said. Gina Giovangelo, 26, was pulled over in Yarmouth Aug. 3 and allegedly gave police fake information about her identity.

Giovangelo faces warrant charges of operating a motor vehicle with a license revoked for motor vehicle homicide, false information to a police officer and texting while driving.

Giovangelo pleaded guilty to a fatal hit-and-run in May 2010 and was sentenced to three years in jail. Authorities said Giovangelo, then 19 years old, ran over 47-year-old Hyannis resident Lillian White as she crossed the street in a wheelchair.

Giovangelo is described as 5-foot-5, 125 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.
