Voegeli Named Collegiate All-American
A versatile, top-notch student-athlete since his days in Little League and Barnstable Youth Football, Hyannis native and Merrimack College junior Isaiah Voegeli was named this week as a collegiate football All-American.
Hard work, they say, pays off.
If that credo rings true for any former Red Raider athlete, then it rings loudly for Merrimack College junior wide receiver Isaiah Voegeli who was named this week as a second team All-American on the heels of an incredible season for the Division II Warriors.
Voegeli, who lettered in football, indoor track, lacrosse and baseball at Barnstable High School and was a senior captain in football, led Merrimack this past fall with 1,251 yards receiving for an average of 125.1 per game. If ranked against the top Division 1 wide receivers in the nation, Voegeli would be in the top 10. He also scored 14 touchdowns. To date, he has 2,054 yards receiving over the course of two seasons at Merrimack as well as a two-year tally of 20 touchdowns and 103 catches.

After three seasons of playing varsity lacrosse at Barnstable High School, Voegeli returned to the baseball diamond, batting .417 to lead the Barnstable Post 206 American Legion lineup before he suited up for the first time as a senior for BHS varsity baseball, an incredible feat considering his three-year layoff from the game.
Voegeli, the son of Kevin and Alicia Voegeli of Hyannis, is studying Health Sciences at Merrimack. He was also named to the 2011 Don Hansen All-Super Regional One Squad, 2nd team and the 2011 Daktronics Inc. All-Super Regional One Squad, 2nd team. During the 2011 collegiate football season, Voegeli was the NE-10 Special Teams Player of the Week as well as the NE-10 Player of the Week at wide receiver.
