What's Open, Closed In Barnstable On Christmas Day

We have everything you need to know, including the trash pick-up schedule for the holiday week.

BARNSTABLE, MA – Barnstable town offices close at noon on Monday, Dec. 24 for the holiday. Offices will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Jan. 1.

According to Macomber's Sanitary Refuse, trash pickup will be delayed by one day starting Tuesday, Dec. 25. There will also be a one-day delay starting New Year's Day.

  • Libraries: Closed
  • Post Office: Closed
  • Banks: Closed
  • Gas Stations: Open

Here's where it gets tricky. Many restaurants, retail stores, and grocery stores will be closed, but not all. Here are some details on a few to get you started:

Retail stores:

  • CVS
    • Christmas Eve: Most stores open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Christmas Day: Most stores open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (excludes stores inside Target).

Supermarkets

  • Shaw's/Star Market
    • Christmas Eve: Most stores typically close a few hours early
    • Christmas Day: Closed
  • Trader Joe's
    • Christmas Eve: All stores close at 6 p.m.
    • Christmas Day: Closed
  • Whole Foods
    • Christmas Eve: All stores will have limited hours. Hours vary by location.
    • Christmas Day: Closed.
  • Wegmans
    • Christmas Eve: Stores will close at 6 p.m.
    • Christmas Day: Closed
