Key to Awesomeness: Nominator Lisa Carlon is ecstatic to honor these girls. She says, "Theater on Ice combines the athleticism of figure skating with theater and dance. To be eligible to be on the team, all girls must have mastered Freestyle 1. When the fall session of skating began, their coach, Laura Kelliher, approached me and the parents of the other girls to inform us of a national competition taking place in April.
The 2011 U.S. National Theatre on Ice competition is happening at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center from April 8-10. It was an opportunity we just couldn't pass up, and the Barnstable Blades Ice Theatre skating team was born.

These girls have balanced school, other sports, music lessons, their social lives; most take another skating class, while diligently practicing and perfecting their two routines that they will be skating to in April. The key to their success is their ability to work together. They take direction from Laura and run with it. They are all creative, hard-working, and have one goal in mind: to compete in April."
