Key to Awesomeness: “Cam Lariviere is a Junior on the [basketball] team who plays football and lacrosse,” explained nominator Matt Sullivan. “He works really hard while balancing out several advance placement classes and even participating in the upcoming school play.”
In a mock-college application essay, Cam revealed his source of success: “It was then when my parents got divorced that I realized that life threw curveballs at everyone once in awhile. [Younger brother] Todd was my outlet to happiness. See, I realized the stresses of being a mature adult and I embraced them from the time I was 13 until the present day. I’ve had the feeling of being at the bottom and I understand that life isn’t always fair and the world doesn’t revolve around myself. The biggest thing I learned, though, was that my little brother was my rock, and whenever I was down he could get me back up and whenever I was hurt physically, or mentally I had to be stronger for him. I would teach him so many things in the time of the divorce to the present, but luckily for me he has taught me more about myself than anyone ever could… I learned Todd was not only my outlet to happiness but my outlet to success.”
