Women's Hockey East Tournament at HYCC Featured on NESN

Boston University won in double overtime.

The successfully hosted the Women's Hockey East Championship Tournament this weekend and made its television debut as NESN broadcast Sunday's Championship Final Game between Providence College and Boston University (being rebroadcast at 2PM today). BU won in double overtime and the 2-1 score reflects what an exhilarating game it was.

Nearly 2,500 spectators came to watch the games and the Cape Cod Waves organized a youth practice on Friday where the college players invited members of the Waves, Barnstable and Canal programs to join them on the ice. The smiles and good spirits didn't end there.

Before the games, youth players participated in high five lines, greeting the players as they went out on the ice and some were invited to line up with the teams during opening ceremonies.

Sunday's National Anthem was performed acapella by 11-year-old standout Emily Scipione from Barnstable and Marstons Mills resident Coach Jack Riley dropped the ceremonial puck to start the game.

There were many compliments from folks who were visiting for the first time, most notably from legendary Boston University Men's Hockey Coach Jack Parker.
