Beacon Hill Native Raises $260K in Child and Maternal Health Care
The funds will provide health care to infants with acute, chronic or terminal illnesses and mothers with at-risk pregnancies.

A Beacon Hill resident helped raise a record-breaking amount of funds to support maternal child health and charitable care for the Visiting Nurse Association of Boston.
Renee Picard Walsh raised $260,000 at the Visiting Nurse Association of Boston’s annual Heroes Health Care Gala on Saturday, Nov. 8.
The gala was held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Boston and honored those who contributed to the health and wellbeing of the citizens in the community. Walsh served as the co-chair of the Gala’s Host Committee.

Those honored this year’s Heroes in Health Care Gala were senior vice president of the MINDBODY Exchange Jill Shah, president and chief executive officer of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Kevin Tabb, MD, and former CEO, chairman and president of Genzyme Corporation Henri Termeer.
The VNA of Boston offers home-based health care to residents including infants with acute, chronic or terminal illnesses and mothers with at-risk pregnancies in the Greater Boston area.

The Heroes in Health Care Gala has raised over $2 million funds for the VNA of Boston’s Maternal Child Health Program and Charitable Care Fund over the past nine years.
“I am deeply impressed by the depth and vitality demonstrated year after year by our partners and friends,” said Laura Wise, manager of fund development.
Established in 1886, the nonprofit is the oldest organized visiting nurse association in the United States.
