Better Get Those Orders in Now for Beacon Hill Chocolates
Chocolate-dipped strawberries need to be ordered by Saturday, French macaroons by Sunday to make sure you get some.
Visiting Beacon Hill Chocolates on a quiet afternoon several days before Valentine's Day, one gets the sense that they are enjoying the calm before the storm.
Indeed, it's the busiest day of the year for the Charles Street chocolatier. And shoppers who wait until the last minute to get sweets for their sweeties could find slim pickins.
"Don't wait until Valentine's Day. We've had to turn people away at the door before," Danika Wood, an employee at Beacon Hill Chocolates, said. Even this weekend will be busy.

Two popular items in particular need to be ordered by this weekend: chocolate-dipped strawberries – which are only availabe at the store once a year – and French macaroons.
For the strawberries, which can be milk or dark chocolates, with or without nuts, make sure to get your order in by Saturday. They cost $36 for 12 strawberries, or $18 for six. Beacon Hill Chocolates will make extras, but there is no guarantee they will be available for those who didn't order.

The macaroons, which the store normallly has once a week (but is already sold out of this week's order) and is getting a special second delivery for Valentine's Day, order by Sunday. They are $24 for 12 or $16.95 for eight and come in vanilla bean or while chocolate raspberry flavors.
Orders for these two items are only taken over the phone (617-795-1900) or at the store at 91 Charles St.
And don't worry about chocolates going bad if you get them now – they stay good for a month, Wood said.
Another great option is a specialty keepsake box filled with Valentine's-themed chocolates. There will be over 30 flavors of heart-shaped chocolates (many of them hand-painted) available to fill the boxes, as well as the shop's regular selection. The prices are $18 for a box filled with four chocolates, $36 for 12 and $64 for 30.
However, if you are looking to spend a little less, there are dozens of treats to choose from, including $4.95 long-stemmed chocolate "roses," $7 chocolate-covered cherries, $5.50 conversation chocolates, $6 razzle sentiment bars, and much more.
