STUDIO DISCOVERY (Ages 4-6)

Studio Discovery is a great introduction to creative and dramatic play. During each week-long session students will explore different themes and play a variety of games focusing on expression, imagination, and individuality. At the end of each week we welcome our parents to join us for a sharing session for friends and family!

Session 1: June 27-July 1- Amazing Animals

Discover new ways to explore the world as only animals can! Focusing on movement and characterization, students will become some of their favorite animals and play as only animals can!

Session 2: July 11-July 15- Funny Fairytales

During this session students will discover and play in the worlds of their favorite fairytales, become their favorite characters, and even create their own.

Session 3: July 18-July 22- Imagination Station

Ever wanted to visit castles? The mountains? Or Mars? In this session students will travel to amazing places without ever leaving the classroom using just their imaginations.

Session 4: July 25-July 29- Creative Colors

Do you see the world through rose colored glasses? Have you ever been green with envy? In this session students use colors to create characters and explore emotions and worlds.

STUDIO ONE (Ages 6-8)

North Shore and Boston

Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm

What if Little Red Riding Hood visited Rapunzel? What happens when the elephants are in charge of the zoo? Where will a magical spaceship take you? Students will discover these and more in Studio One. Each week-long session will focus on a theme and use books, crafts, and theatre games focusing on imagination, character creation, expression and individuality. At the end of each week we welcome our parents to join us for a sharing session for friends and family!

Session 1: June 27-July 1- Silly Seuss

In this session students will dive headfirst into the fantastical world created by Dr. Seuss! Students will have the opportunity to visit the land of the Lorax, meet some Sneeches, and who knows what else! Oh, the places you’ll go in this class!

Session 2: July 11-July 15- Twisted Tales

Everyone has their favorite stories, but what happens when you mix them up? In this class students will experience what it’s like when you bring your own creativity to well-known characters and stories.

Session 3: July 18-July 22- The Magic Schoolbus (or spaceship, or train!)

Just as the students in Ms. Frizzle’s class never know what to expect, students in this session will have new adventures waiting for them each day! Whether they’re hopping on a magic bicycle that flies to the moon, or a train that takes them to the bottom of the ocean, they’ll explore new and exciting places.

Session 4: July 25-July 29- It’s a Zoo!

Lions! And tigers! And bears! Not to mention elephants, birds, and some animals we’ve yet to meet. In this session students will learn about creating characters, movements and voice by becoming into someone else’s paws.

STUDIO TWO (Ages 8-12)

Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm

Studio Two gives our young students a chance to improve their knowledge of theatre while putting together a workshop production of a 30-minute musical. Boston Children’s Theatre’s professional theatre educators will lead participants through the rehearsal process as well as teach them basic theatre skills and terminology such as stage directions, improvisation and character development. This fun and interactive program is great for beginners as well as children who have been in productions before. On the last day of the program, family and friends are invited to a performance of the musical!

Session 1: June 27-July 8 -Aladdin

Based on the iconic animated film, with an Academy Award-winning score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice, Disney’s Aladdin JR. is sure to send audiences soaring on a flying carpet ride!

Session 2: July 11-July 22 -Annie

Based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Annie JR. features everyone’s favorite little redhead in her very first adventure. With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone’s hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City.

Session 3: July 25-August 5 -A Year with Frog and Toad

Adapted from the three-time Tony-nominated Broadway hit comes A Year With Frog And Toad KIDS. Based on Arnold Lobel’s well-loved books, the jazzy, upbeat score bubbles with melody. Part vaudeville, part make-believe, and all charm, A Year With Frog And Toad KIDS tells the story of a friendship that endures throughout the seasons.

Session 4: August 8-August 19- Magic Treehouse: The Knight at Dawn

Magic Tree House: The Knight At Dawn KIDS is an adaptation of the second of Mary Pope Osborne’s award-winning fantasy adventure books from the Magic Tree House book series, which have sold more than 100 million copies and is available in more than 100 countries around the world. This time around, Jack and Annie’s tree house takes them to an age of knights in shining armor where the two discover the power of hope and the true meaning of gallantry.

STUDIO THREE (Ages 9-14)

Studio Three is an intensive, pre-professional training program for students interested in pursuing a profession in musical theatre. This four-week program includes daily classes in acting, dance, and musical theatre led by experienced educators, and rehearsals for fully staged musical productions, culminating in final performances. All students must audition before being accepted into Studio Three.

STUDIO FOUR (Ages 14-19)

Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm

Studio Four is an intensive, pre-professional training program for students interested in pursuing a profession in musical theatre. This five-week program includes daily classes in acting, dance, and musical theatre led by experienced educators, master classes by professional Broadway actors, and rehearsals for fully staged musical productions, culminating in final performances. All students must audition before being accepted into Studio Four.
