Boston Landmarks Orchestra announces innovative programming for 2012 Festival at the Shell

Since 2001, the Boston Landmarks Orchestra has delighted more than 60,000 concertgoers with free musical performances at significant locations throughout the city. With summer rapidly approaching it’s a great time to begin preparing for another great season at the DCR Hatch Shell. This year the orchestra intends to take a community-based approach and is partnering with many local community groups to create and engaging and innovative summer line-up.

This year’s partnerships include concerts with the Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Civic Symphony, Villa Victoria Center, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, Artists for Humanity and much more. Concerts will be held every Wednesday starting on July 11^th, 2012 until August 29^th from 6PM to 8PM.

The DCR Hatch Shell has been Landmarks’ home since 2007. The complete season schedule is posted below. Hope to see you there!

2012 Schedule for the LANDMARKS FESTIVAL AT THE SHELL

July 11 — Boston Sings – with choirs from all over Boston and the presentation of the Ansbacher Music for All Award

July 18 — Boston Dances-featuring dancers from Villa Victoria Center for the Arts

July 25 — At the River- in cooperation with area advocates for safe and clean water and a special tribute to the people of Japan

August 1 — Guest Orchestra: Boston Civic Symphony

August 8 — Collaboration with Boston Lyric Opera

August 15 — Guest Orchestra: Longwood Symphony Orchestra- in collaboration with Foundation for Chinese Performing Arts

August 22 — Landmarks Virtuosos

August 29 — Boston Loves Shakespeare in association with Commonwealth Shakespeare Company
