Earth Day News: Picnic For the Planet at Frog Pond!

Looking for something to do to celebrate Earth Day this weekend? Help The Nature Conservancy set the Guinness World Record for largest global picnic at Picnic for the Planet!

This Sunday, April 22nd, the Boston Common Frog Pond will serve as the home for The Nature Conservancy’s second annual Picnic for the Planet!  This event celebrates the role that nature plays in daily life by reminding people to stop and take a few minutes to enjoy being outside and sharing a meal with their families and friends. Go outside and bring your family and friends to enjoy all the benefits that nature brings to our lives. So rain or shine, come join us for this family friendly event!

The Picnic for the Planet will take place from 11 A.M. to 5 P.M. so you’ll have plenty of time to stop by and enjoy! Also, we’re happy to announce that there will be lots of entertainment throughout the day. The Nature Conservancy will be attempting the Guinness World Record for largest global picnic between noon and 3 P.M. During this time, Radio 92.9 will be providing live music and the opportunity to win free EarthFest tickets (plus other cool prizes!).

The Skating Club of Boston will also be working with Down:2:Earth to sponsor the D:2:E Green Spot, where families can learn about living green in Boston. Picnickers can visit Earth-friendly vendors, including Massachusetts Farmers Markets, Honest Tea, Cow and Crumb, Whole Foods Markets, Flavrz Organic Drink Mix, Emmett’s Edibles, and Progressive Asset Management among others. Family friendly activities – including arts and crafts workshops using recycled materials – will also be part of the day’s entertainment.
