MPHA was recently awarded a grant of $35,000 by the Boston Foundation to advance their policy priorities for a healthier Commonwealth.
MPHA was founded in 1879 as the nation’s first public health association and has become the state’s leading voice calling for high impact public policy solutions to critical health problems.
“We’re very appreciative of the ongoing support provided by The Boston Foundation,” said MPHA Executive Director Toby Fisher. “Our organization has been successful in advancing public health in the state, especially through our work cumulating in the passage of the Prevention and Wellness Trust.” Mr. Fisher also noted that, “the grant from the Boston Foundation will give us additional resources to monitor implementation of the Trust, advance healthy transportation and zoning policies, and protect state funding for public health.”

Discretionary grants from the Boston Foundation are made possible through a family of funds known as the Permanent Fund for Boston, the Boston Foundation’s discretionary endowment, which has allowed the Boston Foundation to make critical grants to support Greater Boston for over 90 years. The Permanent Fund for Boston exists today due to the generosity of donors, often through bequests, enabling the Foundation to meet the most pressing needs of our community.
