Play Ball at the Boston Common!
The Boston Common is a great place for sporting activities. Check out this list of some of the most popular sports played in Boston's public spaces.
Though Fenway Park’s birthday extravaganza has sadly come to a close, the celebration reminded us of the many sports played daily at the Boston Common. It is true that the Common is a shared space between residents and tourists of Boston alike- our common living room. You can’t walk through the Common without noticing a variety of sporting activities ranging from baseball, America’s favorite past-time, to quidditch, a sport from the fantasy world described in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series and everything in between.

Soccer
Whether you call it soccer or football, you know the Common is a darned good place to kick a ball around.
Quidditch
Can quidditch be named a real sport? Though it is not played professionally (yet), you will often see a group of dedicated individuals run around on broomsticks in the Common. Many colleges including BU, Northeastern and Harvard have their own intramural quidditch teams who even play in tournaments against each other.
