The Grass is Greener... in Chicago

Everyone loves the Common, Public Garden and Esplanade, but how to they compare to the parks in Chicago and New York?

I am just back from a long weekend in Chicago, after not having visited in 20 years.  It's amazing what they have done with their city parks -- lots of new and interactive sculpture and public art, activities, and places to sit and get a drink and something to eat.  Things look pretty shabby around here by comparison.  I had the same reaction a couple of years ago, after touring New York's parks with City Councilor Mike Ross.  We've made some progress since then, but we've got a long way to go if we want to be world class like these two cities.
