Update on Esplanade Wading Pool Situation
Currently the Lee Wading Pool on the Esplanade needs repairs to function at all. This beautiful spot might spend another summer barely in use! Let the DCR know if you want it otherwise.
As of today the potentially lovely Lee Memorial wading pool on the Esplanade is open with only the sprinklers running, the pool itself is drained. The DCR is currently evaluating what they want to do next and are open to comments from the public. They have posted their number to call to let them know whether enough people care about this spot! This location is truly idealic for children from many neighborhoods, and one of those places that reminds families why it's good to live in the city.

Two weeks ago the pool was open and filled for at least a day, despite the leak. It was such a wonderful spot---free for all, shaded with trees, safe shallow water for a span of ages and an easy ledge for climbing in and out of the pool. While I was there with my toddler, dozens of families came in and out to relish the cool water on a hot afternoon. I was really looking forward to a full summer there with my toddler. The privately MGH-owned Charles River Park pool across Storrow Drive is $500+ for just one person to join for the summer, and the Mirabella pool in the North End is much too far walk with little ones on a hot day!
