DA's Office: Stabbing Victims Expected to Survive

All four victims of the quadruple stabbing at 73 Tremont St. Wednesday afternoon, including one initially listed in critical condition, are expected to live, District Attorney Dan Conley's press secretary, Jake Wark, said today.

Wark did not say whether the police have a suspect but said that nobody has yet been arrested in connection to the crime.

Two of the victims were on witness lists – meaning they might be called to testify – for a first-degree murder trial in Superior Court, which has since been halted, and were on their way back from court when they were stabbed. The murder case involves the shooting death of 24-year-old Toneika Jones in Dorchester two years ago.

But, Wark said, the stabbing could be unrelated: "There is no evidence, however, that they were attacked because of their potential testimony in this case or any other rather than the long-term animus among the parties believed to be involved."

, at the corner of School Street. Medical personnel found three men at the scene and then were notified of a fourth down at 155 Massachusetts Ave., according to a police spokeswoman.

Police blocked off vehicle traffic on Tremont Street from School to Bromfield streets while about a dozen officers taped off the scene and investigated, and crowds of curious onlookers speculated.

The stretch was reopened to traffic around 4:15 p.m.
