Nichols House Museum Lecture: Agents of Change: Rose, Margaret and Marian Nichols, New Women and Social Reform

Placing the Nichols sisters in the context of the great progressive movement of the early 20th century and women’s role within it, this talk will explore the numerous and dynamic ways in which Rose, Marian, and Margaret Nichols engaged with and responded to the most pressing social and moral concerns of their day—in the U.S. and around the world. Come learn about their ideas and activities on topics as diverse as suffrage, immigration, government corruption, prison reform, pacifism and Philippine independence.
