Nichols House Museum Lecture: "At Home on Beacon Hill: 1885-1960"

Arthur and Elizabeth Nichols came to Boston in 1885 and lived with their three daughters at 55 Mount Vernon Street for the remainder of their lives. They delighted in their historic home where they enjoyed a rich social life, traveled frequently and reared their three girls to exacting standards.  “At Home on Beacon Hill” is the story of this spirited and engaging family. 

B. June Hutchinson, author of the recently published bookAt Home on Beacon Hill: Rose Standish Nichols and Her Family, was a founding partner of Private Gardens, Weston, Massachusetts, a landscape design firm specializing in period gardens. She lives on Beacon Hill and was the president of the Board of Governors of the Nichols House Museum from 2004 until 2007.

The lecture, “At Home on Beacon Hill: 1885 – 1960,” will take place on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the American Meteorological Society, 45 Beacon Street, Boston.
