Open to the public, the Nichols House Museum will host a tea party that will incorporate simple etiquette into a red-carpet coronation ceremony and celebration for children ages 4 – 8. Facilitated by Janet L. Parnes, owner of Royal Tea Parties by Lady J, the tea party will revolve around the coronation of the Princes and Princesses of Nichols Castle. To prepare, the children will meet Lady J, talk about the way princes and princesses behave as guests, and learn how to introduce themselves. Then the children walk down the red carpet to be crowned. Afterwards, bedecked with crowns or tiaras and pink or silver capes, the newly crowned princes and princesses will parade to the tea table. Following a review of simple table manners, the group will revel in “Royal Tea” (pink lemonade), treats, an original tea-party tale, and teatime chat. The party will wrap up with The Polka-Dot Princess, an original story/game. Parents are encouraged to stay for the festivities.
Parents may sign up their children by calling the Nichols House Museum at 617-227-6993. Space is limited.
