Friends of the Phillips Street Play Area to Host Free Summer Programs, "Picnic in the Park" Series
Picnics, clowns, music, ice cream and more this summer on Philips Street.

The Friends of the Phillips Street Play Area is pleased to announce Free Summer Programs and Community Events taking place at the Phillips Street Play Area, in Beacon Hill.
This year the Friends group will host a “Picnic in the Park Series” to be held on the following Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Bring your picnic basket or order a “Phillips Street Picnic Box Dinners” at Panificio by 3 p.m. the day of the event by calling 617.227.4340. You can also order online. There will be free ice cream at each event and special entertainment including musicians and other local entertainers.

Summer Programs and Community Events 2012
June 26 – Kite Building and Book/Bake Sale: Elisabeth Accardi, owner of Upon a Star, will create a unique and whimsical kite activity for children. Buy a book at the used book sale and receive a free bookmark with discount to on Charles Street. Neighborhood children will also host a bake sale with proceeds going to the playground. Ice cream for all!

July 10 – Nick Burka, Guitarist & Ice Cream Social: Nick will be playing contemporary pop and folk music that’s easy and fun to listen to and sing along. Make your own sundae at our popular ice cream social.
July 17 – Enjoy the silly antics of Tilly the Clown as she performs magic tricks for kids of all ages. Enjoy free ice cream at this wonderful event.
July 31 – Mad Science Workshop - Dry Ice. This MAD SCIENCE of Greater Boston workshop takes an exciting look at the world of dry ice through a series of interactive and fun experiments. Free ice cream!
October 21 (rain date Oct. 22) - Fourth Annual Harvest Festival: 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Costume party, games, art contest, food, music, prizes, face painting and more!
The Phillips Street Play Area is located on Phillips Street between Anderson and Garden, one block above Cambridge Street on Beacon Hill. All events are on Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (excluding the Harvest Festival). Join neighbors and friends from a fun free evening outdoor.
