King’s Chapel, March 31: Lute-song recital available online
David William Hughes performs Elizabethan songs by Campion, Dowland, Jones, Weelkes, Hume, and others.

David William Hughes (countertenor, lute-guitar) returns to the King’s Chapel Tuesday recital series on March 31 at 12:15 PM with Songs of Sadness, Satire, and Seduction, a half-hour program of Elizabethan songs by Campion, Dowland, Jones, Weelkes, Hume, and others. This program showcases the wit, narratives, and different perspectives of the songs, and the range and versatility of the solo voice.
Due to the coronavirus restrictions, King’s Chapel is closed, but this recital will be presented as a livestream performance on David’s YouTube channel on Tuesday, March 31 at 12:15 pm.
David William Hughes is a musician and comedian whose work combines music, comedy, and historical research to create unique and exciting performances. Born in the UK and now residing in Boston, David holds degrees from the University of Oxford. He has toured throughout Europe and the USA, has been commissioned – amongst others – by Oxford University and Angel Sharp Media, and has had his music performed at Winchester Cathedral, Downside Abbey, Merton College, Somerville College, and King’s Chapel.
