Mass. AG Takes Opioid Fight To Purdue Pharma - And Its Executives

AG Maura Healey said the lawsuit is the first to specifically name executives for their role in the nationwide epidemic.

BOSTON, MA — Attorney General Maura Healey filed a lawsuit against massive opioid manufacturer Purdue Phrama and several company executives, a suit Healey says is the first to specifically name executives for their role in the nationwide epidemic.

The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in Suffolk Superior Court, says Purdue Pharma "created the epidemic and profited from it through a web of illegal deceit."

Healey announced the lawsuit alongside other state officials, including Gov. Charlie Baker, Tuesday morning in her office. Six poster boards were displayed, featuring the first names of opioid victims.
