Massachusetts Joining Lawsuit Against Trump's Revised Travel Ban
Massachusetts will join Washington state and Minnesota's expected lawsuit against the president's new ban

BOSTON, MA – Massachusetts will join Washington state and Minnesota's expected lawsuit against President Trump's revised travel ban, Attorney General Maura Healey announced Thursday.
The attorney general's office dismissed its case in Massachusetts Thursday and will join the lawsuit early next week when an amended complaint is filed.
"President Trump’s second travel ban remains a discriminatory and unconstitutional attempt to make good on his campaign promise to implement a Muslim ban," Healey said in a statement. "We are consolidating our legal efforts and joining fellow states, led by Washington, in continuing to challenge this Administration’s unlawful immigration policies. We look forward to presenting our arguments to the court in the coming days to protect our residents, institutions, and economy in Massachusetts."

Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson said Thursday he would ask a federal judge to extend an existing restraining order to the new travel ban, which Trump signed on Monday. Ferguson said that it should be up to the courts to decide whether the new travel ban is sufficiently different enough to remain in place and stand on its own.
