Police: Man Steals Steaks by Putting Them in His Pants

Police news from Beacon Hill for April 20-22.

Police are looking for a man who attempted to shove three steaks down his pants and run out of Whole Foods Saturday night. According to police reports, a security officer at Whole Foods on Cambridge Street noticed a man around 10 p.m. "who has been frequenting the store 3 to 4 times a week & shoplifting."

He saw the man grab a $69 tenderloin steak and two $36 rib-eyes and put them in his pants. The security guard approached the man as he was leaving the store and retrieved the tenderloin but the man grabbed the guard by the throat, pushed him aside and ran before he could get the other two steaks.

The officer followed him outside and saw him removing his outer clothes as he walked toward Staniford Street.
