Take an Afternoon Tea Break

Cambridge's Upstairs on the Square offers Springtime Afternoon Tea.

After this winter, once the giant snow mounds melted, suddenly it felt like a little-known luxury to be able to use the entire width of the sidewalk.

Now, as the temperatures begin to inch ever so slowly towards weather that requires fewer layers of clothing, even the gloomiest of spirits must feel revived to spot the tiny violet and ivory blooms of crocuses popping up out of the ground. Spring is finally here! Time to get out the flower print dresses and pastel colors and enjoy the gifts that this seasonal rebirth brings.

In keeping with the welcoming of spring, this week’s Great Escape encourages moms to take time out to appreciate the simpler things in life – a flower, a warm day, and a soothing cup of tea.

Every Saturday and Sunday from 2 - 4 p.m. at Upstairs on the Square, a gorgeous restaurant and tea house in Harvard Square, you can relax and take part in their Springtime Afternoon Tea.

The restaurant features several themed dining rooms, decorated in lush and colorful details like pink walls, gold chairs, and elaborate wall sconces. Their Zebra Room, so-named for the printed carpet that lines the space, sets the scene for this seasonal tradition. Sit and as enjoy the “civilized respite of a cup of tea” or even a glass of sparkling wine with some of their savory sandwiches and sweet pastries and other treats.
