The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) recently gave its 2013 Distinguished Achievement Award to the director of the Institute for Community Inclusion, Dr. William Kiernan. Dr. Kiernan is one of two recipients of this year’s award, the other being Dr. Robert Stodden of the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
In her message of congratulation to Dr. Kiernan, AUCD president Julie Fodor quoted from a nomination letter: “Over the past four decades, Dr. Kiernan has established himself as one of the pillars of disability research and policy in the United States...His work has substantially influenced national, state, and local transition and employment policies and practices throughout the nation, as well as in more than a dozen countries worldwide.”
