• Bedford Plans for Accommodations During Town Hall Main Entrance Construction (thebedfordcitizen.org) — Access to Bedford Town Hall is about to change as the main entrance closes around Sept. 21 for a three-month ADA improvement project, with only side, non-accessible doors open. Residents needing ADA access can get help at the police station, use a new exterior drop box, vote early in the Flint Room at Town Center, and attend relocated or virtual public meetings during construction.
• Bedford Select Board Will Not Call A November Special Town Meeting (thebedfordcitizen.org) — For the first time in nearly four decades, Bedford will skip holding a fall Special Town Meeting, meaning all nine draft warrant articles will likely wait until the next Annual Town Meeting. Local officials say none of the proposed financial, bylaw, or zoning changes are time-sensitive enough to justify the cost and effort of a separate session, though they acknowledge it could slightly lengthen Annual Town Meeting.
• Burlington police lieutenant charged with domestic assault, witness intimidation (bostonglobe.com) — Bedford police responded to a 911 call from a Burlington police lieutenant's home and, after investigating conflicting accounts, determined he was the primary aggressor in an alleged domestic assault. Officers documented the woman's facial injuries and blood in the home, seized his firearms, and he was later released on bail while Burlington places him on paid administrative leave pending a criminal case and internal review.
