MCC’s Links Program Offers Free Opportunity to Start College

Tuition-free Links provides opportunity for eligible adult students to earn college credits over the course of one or two semesters.

Middlesex Community College’s Links Program is a tuition-free program designed specifically to help students start college. Applications are currently being accepted for the fall semester, and classes start Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Funded by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE), in partnership with MCC, Links provides an opportunity for eligible students to earn college and institutional credits FREE over the course of one or two semesters. The program also provides individual assessment of skills, assistance with career planning, and academic guidance and support, as students begin their college education.

Links classes are small and are comprised entirely of other Links students. They are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays on MCC’s Bedford campus with free shuttle service available from the Lowell campus. Enrolled students also have access to MCC facilities – such as the libraries and Fitness Center – as well as a wide variety of student services.

Eligible applicants must have a high school credential (diploma, HiSET® or GED®), be a Massachusetts resident, and place into Links courses via MCC’s College Placement Tests. Preference is given to students who studied in a DESE-funded Adult Basic Education Program. However, other students are encouraged to apply.
