ā¢ Belchertown awarded nearly $2.3 million for infrastructure and safety (wwlp.com) ā Belchertown is receiving nearly $2.3 million in state grants to upgrade water and sewer systems, boost road safety enforcement, and complete a town-wide wayfinding sign network. The funding also supports utility work in Carriage Grove, improvements at Sportshaven Mobile Home Park, and planning for a new Belchertown Cultural District, with town officials promising more details soon.

ā¢ Western Mass. residents urge Healey to intervene in Eversource plan (recorder.com) ā Belchertown is one of several Western Mass communities where Eversource plans extensive tree clearing along a major power line corridor, prompting residents to ask Gov. Maura Healey to step in. A local advocacy group argues the project would damage sensitive habitats and wants more selective cutting, while Eversource says the work is needed to protect electric reliability and is based on detailed vegetation risk analysis. ā¢ Quabbin water plan draws flood of opposition at crowded hearing (atholdailynews.com) ā Belchertown Town Hall hosted a packed state hearing where more than 200 residents and officials challenged a proposal to draw an extra 20 million gallons a day from the Quabbin Reservoir. Local voices, including Belchertownās state representative and economic leaders, warned the plan could deepen western Massachusettsā water and development constraints while primarily benefiting future growth in eastern communities.
