5 Things: Summer Drama Work for Middle School Students

Events occurring in Belmont on Monday, June 24.

1. If you are the parent of a middle school student, you well know the drama involved raising adolesants. So why not this summer, let all their energy to directred to the stage at the Middle School Drama Workshops held at the Belmont Public Library. Let your pre-teens/teens work with One Stage Productions in this fun and innovative dramatic workshop open to fifth to eighth graders.

Those attending will be encouraged to shape the story as they prepare for the final staged production of their work. Kids will participate in bringing "Some Buddy," an original play to the stage. They will rehearse in the first eight classes with the performance scheduled for the ninth meeting.

2. Sewer work is being performed at the intersection of Trapelo Road and Hawthorne Street while Insituform Technologies will be sewer and drain work 
along Trapelo Road and at the intersection of Trapelo and Pine Street

3. It's officially summer and what better time, when the evenings are long and warm, then to have a street party. Residents seeking to close down a segment of a public street for the purpose of hosting a neighborhood block party or public event can fill out this form and submit it along with a $25 check payable to the “Town of Belmont” to the Town Administrator/Board of Selectmen’s Office at Town Hall. Then it's up to you to have fun.

4. Teens: Sign up before July 4th for the Belmont Public Library's Summer Reading Program; read and log in one book, and be entered into a drawing for a coveted pair of Red Sox box seat tickets. See the home town team up close and personal as they return to the top of the standings. The winner will have a choice of three games.

5. On this day in 1997, the US Air Force released a report on the so-called "Roswell Incident," suggesting the alien bodies witnesses reported seeing in 1947 were actually life-sized dummies. "The Truth Is Out There."
