Obituary: Shea, Robert T., Retired Belmont Police Department Chief

Bob was the brother of Charles Shea of Spencer, Richard Shea of Waltham, Kathleen Shea and Karen Rivers of Belmont and the late Rosemary DelVecchio.  Loving grandfather of Casey, Lindsey, Ryan, Colin, Michael and Connor Shea. Nephew of Robert Shea of Beverly.  He is also survived by Jacob Verge and his wife, Mary of E. Kingston, NH, Natalie Verge of N. Hampton, NH  and Nathan and Andrew Verge.  

Born in Cambridge, Bob was a longtime resident of Belmont.  He received his Master's Degree from Anna Maria College.  Bob was in law enforcement  for the Town of Belmont for over 43 years and was  the retired Chief, Belmont Police Department, the Boston University Police Department and for a short time he assumed the Chief's position for the City of Chelsea Police Department. He was the son of the late Joseph F. and Rose M. (Dwyer) Shea.

Bob was a late Army Veteran and a member of the Clover Club of Boston; the IACP; MACP and the IAPOA.

Funeral from the Short, Williamson & Diamond Funeral Home,  52 Trapelo Road, Belmont, Thursday, January 5, 9 a.m.  Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, 130 Common St., Belmont, 10 a.m. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday, January 4, 4-8 p.m.  Interment Highland Meadow Cemetery, Belmont. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease Center, (Att: Harriet Kornfeld), 72 East Concord St. L-219, Boston, MA 02218 , would be sincerely appreciated.
