Belmont: Dogs Must Be Leashed On Trails

Anyone caught with their dog off a leash could face a $500 fine.

BELMONT, MA — Belmont's Board of Health is cracking down on leash bylaws to keep town trails safe. Specifically, the town issued a notice to residents about Rock Meadow Conservation land and trails.

Dogs must be leashed on trails at all times — anyone not abiding by the bylaws could face a $500 fine. Residents are also expected to pick-up after their dogs and properly dispose of pet waste.

The town reminded residents to practice social distancing and not cluster in groups that may prevent others from getting around you outside a safe 6-foot distance.

If the parking lot for a trail is full, residents should visit a different location or wait until the trail is less busy to avoid breaking social distancing practices.
