Belmont High School Receives Check for Safe Post-Prom Events

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan gifted $500 to 18 districts in the county.

BELMONT, MA – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan on Friday gifted a $500 check to Belmont High School to promote substance-free events after prom and graduation. Belmont was one of 18 schools in the county to receive a donation as part of the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and Middlesex Partnerships for Youth, Inc. (MPY) county-wide school safety initiatives.

Ryan has hosted events across the county to encourage safe choices from teenagers when attending parties and other activities. She has also spoken to parents and caregivers about "social host responsibility" and the dangers of serving underage drinkers.

MPY is a non-profit organization in Middlesex County that provides prevention and intervention resources and training to school districts and communities. These include collaborative trainings with law enforcement, social services and community-based organizations, as well as sharing information and resources.
