Belmont High's Promenade To The Prom

All the fashion and glamour on display for family and friends

The auditorium at Belmont High School was packed Friday afternoon, May 21, with family and friends, there to witness another time-honored passage of time in the life of their loved ones.

A little more than a dozen years earlier, it was the first day of school. On Friday, it was a day of maturity and, yes, a bit of glamour as seniors and juniors got to strut their stuff at the High School's Promenade.

In front of a wall of sound made up of cheering and congratulations, solo, pairs, trios and one memorable pack of swaggering male bravado - all dressed to the nines in gowns, tuxes, suits and a few sneakers - crossed the auditorium stage, the girls helped down the steps by the dapper Principal Michael Harvey.

After their walk before the crowds and after being processed, the students met friends and posed for photos in the school's front entrance courtyard before taking buses to the Grand Ballroom of the Boston Marriott Cambridge Hotel in Cambridge's Kendall Square, overlooking the Charles River, where the party, dancing and even more photos would last until 11 p.m.
