Belmont Power Outage Caused By Cable Failure

BELMONT, MA — Some Belmont residents woke up in the dark on Tuesday morning. The power outage lasted through the morning, most customers had their power restored by 9 a.m.

Belmont Light said the cause of the outage was an underground cable failure. The only people left without power after 9 a.m. were residents on Knox Street — repairs took an extra hour in that area.

The initial outage affected Belmont Hill and parts of Belmont Center.
